Sedimentation Tanks
Build up of organic matter ( foof residues, fish faeces) has a native effect on the operation of a filter. It clog the spaces between the filter media, causing local deoxygenation and an uneven flow through the filter bed.
The simplest type of sedimation basin consists of a tank through which the water of the fish tankpasses on its way to the bio filter.
The key to sucessful sedimentation is the reduction in flow rate through the tank. This must be as great as possible. The longer the water can be retained in the tank, the moer chance it has to clarify.
