Fish Tank
Fish tanks can be made out of most any meterial. The can be as pimple as a hole in the ground with a pond liner. or 55 gal. drums.
These small systems could
be built either indoors or out. Catfish, carp, and tilapia system
are better indoors. A garage or small greenhouse would be good.
And would also provide a good site for mounting solar panels if
needed.
The systems we will describe require a floor space of 75 to 100
sq. Ft. And operates with a continuous pumping at a rate of 18.5
gal/minute (or about 1110 gal./hr ) The filter is of the
submerged gravel type. The sedimentation basin is suitable for
keeping all species, and we will describe how to adapt it to the
needs of each later.
40 inches in diameter 30 inches deep containing water to a depth
of 20 inches. The total water volume of the tanks about 317
gallons.
A tank 4x6x2 foot = filled 6" from the top = 270 gal
A tank 4x4x4 foot = filled 6" from the top = 420 gal
A tank 4x3x8 foot = filled 6" from the top = 630 gal
A tank 4x4x8 foot = filled 6" from the top = 840 gal
A tank 2x2x6 foot = filled 6" from the top = 135 gal
